ABSTRACT
The article discusses medical conditions of athletes with cerebral palsy. Cerebral palsy is a neuromuscular disorder caused by brain damage at birth. Types of cerebral palsy include spastic, ataxic, and athetoid. Athletes with cerebral palsy can suffer from hip dislocations and contractures and lack sufficient motor control to prevent scrapes and other injuries. Athletic trainers focus on strength training with kinetic machines and long, slow stretches. Proper hand placement during stretches is crucial.
