ABSTRACT
The article announcement of China's authorities that the chemical spill in Hancheng City in Shaanxi Province, China is under control. According to Duan Xuanmin, director of the Hancheng Environment Protection Bureau, the spill occurred when a tank car loaded with 25 tonne of liquid caustic soda slipped into a reservoir because of earlier heavy rain. Chinese authorities stressed that the neutralisation process would not cause any further pollution.
