ABSTRACT
The article compares the state of the Indonesian and Chinese textile industry. The Indonesian industry is struggling with obsolete machinery and a shortage of working capital, a situation which could limit its ability to meet export targets. In contrast, China believes it should keep reinventing the wheel to remain competitive in the global market. The National Development and Reform Commission has called for the accelerated restructuring of the country's textile industry.
