ABSTRACT
The article presents some elements of an effective online security incident-response plan. First, early detection and response can prevent damage, therefore information security professionals must trust their instincts. Second, IT specialists must create a wide range of response activities for varied incidents. Other suggestions include informing corporate lawyers about the incident, preserving the integrity of the crime scene and evidence, and utilizing the services of the experts.
