ABSTRACT
The article presents information on a satellite imagery assessments performed by the special inspector general (IG) for Iraq to conduct oversight of reconstruction projects in Iraq that are too far or unsafe to visit. The focus of images studied for 2006 was forts and road projects. Photographs from space showed almost six forts under construction along Iraq's borders. By analyzing images, the IG found the absence of retaining walls at forts and a wall at a police station in southern Iraq.
