ABSTRACT
The article reflects on how the Japanese Navy forces lost the battle of Midway to the American and Allied Naval forces. It discusses several works which analyzed why the Japanese forces suffered defeat, including the "Shattered Sword," by Jonathan B. Parshall and Anthony P. Tully, and "The Unknown Battle of Midway: The Destruction of the American Torpedo Squadrons," by Alvin B. Kernan.
