The article reports on the relationship between sleep and weight in the United States. The average amount of sleep for adults has declined about 1.5 hours per night, whereas body weights have risen nationally. According to the Harvard University's Nurses' Health Study, if one gets less than five hours of sleep per night, the risk of developing type-2 diabetes is great. Both children and adults are affected by lack of sleep resulting in obesity and diabetes.
