ABSTRACT
The article offers a look at the competition between commercial green-building rating systems. Green Globes was based on the British-developed Building Research Establishment's Environmental Assessment Method. The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design rating system offered by the U.S. Green Building Council has a suite of commercial rating systems for new construction, existing buildings, core and shell and commercial interiors. The Green Building Initiative is working with local home building associations to incorporate the guidelines into local residential green-building programs.
