ABSTRACT
The article reports that Library of Parliament in Ottawa, Ontario has been reopened to the public on June 3, 2006. It underwent a four-year $136-million construction project for the preservation and renovation of the 130-year-old building. Such rehabilitation work was needed to repair leaking windows, dangerous electrical wiring, and structural problems, as stated by the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. Its project director Mary Soper said that they everything in the building, from top down to the bottom have been touched and that they assure that they have brought it up to date. The work engaged in rebuilding parts of the exteriors and digging below the structure to create a huge space for books and documents storage.
