ABSTRACT
The article discusses whether major music labels will participate in MySpace.com's plan to sell MP3 music. MySpace CEO Chris DeWolfe said the company is bypassing Digital Rights Management (DRM) to ensure compatibility with the iPod, which claims roughly 70% of the digital music player market. But backing MP3 comes at a price. No DRM means the majority of major label acts using the site likely will forgo making use of the MySpace commerce solution when it debuts later in 2006. Artists will be able to sell albums and individual tracks directly from their MySpace profile pages. INSET: eMusic: Already An Mp3 Player.
