This article reports on the plan of AT& T Inc. to build a Wi-Fi network in Springfield, Illinois. The plan of the company signals its entry into the municipal wireless market and it is also a part of a new strategy to extend its broadband services outside of the home and office. The company is busy negotiating with dozens of cities to build and operate Wi-Fi networks.
