The article promotes the "Customer Relationship Management (CRM) Magazine" Best Practices Series to the small-to-medium business (SMB) market. SMBs are generally considered to be companies with less than 1,000 employees. It cites that unclear projections of improvements from the implementations of CRM were not worth the expense, energy and risk for many SMBs.
