ABSTRACT
The article reports on a possible joint venture between Mexican petrochemical firms Grupo Idesa, Pemex Petroquimica and Nova Chemicals. The proposal is a scaled-down version of the so-called Phoenix project under which Idesa, Nova and others had planned a brand-new, world-scale petrochemical complex. The expansion is particularly significant in that it is the only sizeable ethylene investment likely to go ahead in North America.
