ABSTRACT
The article reports on the development of stainless steel imports in the first quarter of 2006 in the U.S. The increase totaled to 238, 871 tons and is a 2 percent increase compared to the same 2005 period. The Specialty Steel Industry of North America has reported some of the developments in steel imports compared to 2005 including a 13 percent increase in stainless steel sheet, a 5 percent is seen in the import of stainless steel plate, a 16 percent decrease in stainless steel bar and a 37 percent decrease in stainless steel rod.
