ABSTRACT
The article reports on the increase of first-half shipments of red metal in the U.S. in 2006, which is a 12.5 percent gain over the same period in 2005. According to the Copper and Brass Servicenter Association (CBSA) Inc., all copper products experienced double digit-gains, with total copper shipments up 16.2 percent year-to-year. However, the June 2006 shipments have declined a 3 percent compared to the shipments in May of the same year. CBSA officials say the decline reflects the general slowing of U.S. economic growth.
