ABSTRACT
The article presents the financial results of leading steel and aluminum producers, rounded up from industry producers' conference calls with analysts and investors, in the U.S. Strong second-quarter results were reported by AK Steel, despite the labor strife at their Middletown, Ohio Works. Alcoa Inc. of Pittsburgh also had two favorable quarters in 2006. Higher sales and net income were also reported by Carpenter Technology Corp. of Wyomissing, Pennsylvania.
