ABSTRACT
The article discusses the use of hard disks in the sound recording industry. It claims that recording professionals are concerned over the drives' pricing than performance. In terms of performance, the drive specifications are seek time and spindle rotational speed. The drive performance requirement of Digidesign for Pro Tools HD is a minimum drive speed of 7,200 rpm and an average seek time of less than 10 milliseconds. INSET: Unraveling the Acronyms.
