ABSTRACT
This article recalls the disaster relief operations of the U.S. National Guard in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Although the National Guard was lauded in congressional hearings as the most organized and well-prepared entity to respond to Hurricane Katrina, there were several lessons learned. Some problems experienced by the National Guard during the relief operations are indicated, including a lack of equipment. Moreover, this article states the services offered by the National Guard in the hurricane aftermath.
