The article offers information on the roles played by the U.S. Army Reserve force which celebrates its 98th anniversary in 2006. The Reserve component of the service was envisioned as a force of volunteers with specialized skills that would complement the warfighting capabilities of the active component of the Army. The occupational specialties of the Reserve force include psychological and civil affairs operations.
