ABSTRACT
The article discusses on several situations that has been commonly perceived as hassle factors in a fire department that causing firefighter members and volunteers to quit or move to other departments. In a survey taken around the U.S., the leading issue for most volunteer fire departments is recruitment and retention in which can be attributed to the level of hassle factor situations which includes chances for promotion, boring training, no shared responsibility and slow acquisition of basic items.
