ABSTRACT
The author reflects on the challenges arising from the use of Voice over Internet Protocols (VOIP). Network carriers believe that by putting together packages that include data access, long distance and local service would allow them to capture market share and increase profit. However, the transition to VOIP would translate to heavy expenditure costs for the carriers. The hosted category of VOIP network connections has the switching function in the telecommunication office and offers standard telephone features. The access connection VOIP service is priced according to concurrent or simultaneous connections between the customer premise system and the network.
