ABSTRACT
The article presents the narrative of the author on designing a house that would suit her condition. She acquired a spinal-cord injury during a bicycle accident. She and her husband have completed their dream home in 1995, three years before the injury. However, since the injury, the author admitted on having difficulties in climbing the stairs and reaching for high cabinets. She consulted wheelchair users and her independent living center director for referrals on modifying their house layout.
