ABSTRACT
The article reports on the use of force in detaining and apprehending suspects like shoplifters. The main consideration in apprehending a suspect is the law of jurisdiction, in which legal counsel is sought. The non-deadly force allowed is limited in overcoming the force of the suspect, and protecting the authority making the detention.
