ABSTRACT
The article presents a discussion of John J. R. Macleod, the Nobel Prize winner for the discovery of Insulin. A son of a clergyman, Macleod was born on September 6, 1876 in Cluny in Central Scotland. He gained a position as a demonstrator in physiology at the London Hospital Medical School in 1899. Macleod was appointed professor of physiology at Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio.
