The article focuses on the outcome of the European Commission's Prospectus Directive, implemented in 2005 to free up the flow of capital both into the European Union (EU) and between member states. Problems are emerging with company employee share schemes, with the chemicals sector particularly affected as it has a high number of non-EU-listed companies operating in the EU. A study was conducted by Unklaters which found that some non-EU companies are considering canceling their employee share plans.
