ABSTRACT
The article reports on an agreement reached by European Union research ministers on an action plan for the Seventh Framework Programme (FP7). After several months of intense debate, the details of FP7, the main instrument for funding European Community scientific research and technological development, are now resolved and on track to start in 2007. The budget for the chemical industry is cited.
