ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the financial crisis at the AgCenter, the agricultural research center of Louisiana State University (LSU) in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. After the Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, the AgCenter went to the extent of asking the LSU to declare a financial emergency. The declaration was granted in March 2006. The AgCenter omitted about 300 positions. The leaders of the AgCenter regret the minimum importance given to agriculture, especially in northeast Louisiana.
