ABSTRACT
This article provides information on the top publicly traded marketing and media companies in the U.S. for the week ended August 20, 1999. Walt Disney Co. stock, trading nearly 30 percent below its 52-week high as recently as August 13, showed signs of life after the company disclosed that it may sell its sports teams and other non-core businesses. Disney profits in the quarter ended June 30 were 12 percent below year-ago levels. In trading, Disney stock closed at 29.88 U.S. dollars, up 9.88 percent for the week.
