ABSTRACT
The article reports on the decision of Liberty Global Inc. to back away from the auction for Dutch cable company Essent Kabelcom. The largest cable company in the Netherlands backed off after it did not believe that it could meet demands of the workers council of Essent in case of a takeover. Private-equity firm Warburg Pincus/Cinven announced its decision to acquire Essent for 3.3 billion U.S. dollars on August 2, 2006.
