This article explains that the U.S. Federal Trade Commission has cleared Linde's proposed acquisition of BOC, subject to a number of disposals. The German gases company now has all the clearances it needs to acquire its U.K. rival for £ 8.2bn, because European Union approval was received on June 6, 2006. The takeover is expected to be completed in September, if it is approved by 75% of BOC shareholders at a meeting on August 16, 2006.
