This article states that Akzo Nobel has set the pace for Europe's quarter two reporting season with a 7% hike in sales to € 3.6bn and operating income up 9% to € 365m. Coatings had a record quarter, but there was a strong performance all round, with Organon also contributing strongly. Commenting on its performance, Akzo Nobel chief financial officer, Rob Frohn, said that the company performed well in Q2, with both top and bottom lines improving significantly … energy prices and raw materials remain a concern, but we look ahead with confidence to the second quarter. Net income for the company nearly doubled to € 361m as a result of improved operational earnings and a one-off tax benefit.
