ABSTRACT
The article reports on the adoption of customer relationship management (CRM) systems by the public sector in the U.S. to better service citizens. A municipality can reduce costs by giving its citizens a single point of contact and by consolidating many smaller contact centers into one. Case management played a significant role in the wake of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks to law enforcement agencies. Some agencies are using revenue management customer information systems to consolidate billing and transactional information.
