ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the contactless payments and line-busting techniques adopted by retailers to process customers in a short period of time and integrate with their existing point of sale system and self-service concept. Ikea relies on a technology from Agilysis that enables an associate to accept payments and print receipts from queued costumers. Other retailers have used similar technologies to service more customers faster. The number of locations accepting such payments is expected to increase by the end of 2006.
