ABSTRACT
The article reports on the sales performance of department stores and retail stores in the U.S., for the month of July 2006. In the data of Johnson Redbook Index, it presented a 2.1 percent declined of retail sales in the third week while a 3.5 percent of decreased in the fourth week of July. Retailers claimed that hot season was the cause of sales reduction.
