ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the expertise of master saddler Helen Reader in saddlery. She became interested in saddlery when she was just seven after she watched an expert repaired her first pony's saddle. All the basics before securing an apprenticeship were learned by Reader at the Guild of Master Saddle Makers in Hackney, London in England. Two needles are used in all the stitching works.
