The article reports that the study of accounting firm BDO Seidman LLP has revealed a decrease in the operating profits of residential furniture manufacturers in the U.S. in 2006. In its annual operating report on manufacturers, the firm said gross margins have been growing because American companies are outsourcing more furniture from offshore. However, the shift overseas also has led to higher selling expense, offsetting the margin gain.
