ABSTRACT
The article states that innovative packaging for perishable products is becoming more crucial to brand loyalty in the U.S. The survey by DuPont showed that 72 percent of U.S. shoppers are willing to pay more for improved food and beverage packaging that guarantees freshness and taste. The Smart salads products of Apio Inc. are packed using Landec's proprietary Breatheway specialty packaging. While the Del Monte Fresh Produce are packed in a vacuum-sealed tray which can be placed directly into the microwave.
