The article reports that GMAC-RFC has defended the findings of the research it commissioned to look into the economic impact of a 10 percent and 25 percent fall in housing transactions arising from the imposition of Home Information Packs in Great Britain. The study was conducted by Oxford Economic Forecasting, which is one of the leaders in economic forecasting. The Department of Communities and Local Government has claimed that the idea that HIP will increase employment is nonsense and that the level of sales depends on wider issues in the housing market and economy.
