ABSTRACT
The article presents a reprint of the article "The Past is Prelude: K.L.A.'s First Forty Years," by Hammond Dugan, which appeared in the June 1948 issue of the periodical "Bulletin of the Kentucky Library Association." Dugan's article provided information about the Kentucky Library Association (KLA). In June 1907, the KLA was formed at a meeting of librarians that was held in Louisville, Kentucky. The KLA's first president was William F. Yust, a librarian. The primary objective of the KLA was to ignite interest in libraries in Kentucky. The KLA was also aimed at promoting good relations between librarians. Inter-library loans were also promoted by the KLA.
