ABSTRACT
The article discusses the problem of computer software piracy. Around $300 billion on legitimate software will be spent by the world's businesses and consumers in the next four years. It is expected that a $200 billion-worth will be pirated. In developing countries, which account for just 10% of spending on genuine software, the problem is hard to police and rife. Piracy rate in Great Britain is lower at 27%. At least $2.25 of revenues through services such as packaging, installation and tech support is generated by every $1 of pukka software sold.
