ABSTRACT
The article reports that labor unions in Detroit, Michigan were impelled into concessions after the cuts proposed by Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick were considered crucial to keep the city financially stable. The city government will impose the 10 percent cut in hours and pay thousands of employees represented by the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees Council 25. The city would also increase its health care costs for union members.
