ABSTRACT
This article reports on the move of Little Caesar Enterprises to sell equipment from 27 Little Caesars Pizza restaurants in California and Arizona through several auctions in 1999. The auctions involve 382 company-owned restaurants, where about 75% is owned by franchises. The company said in a statement that assets had been sold to a third party for disposal. It also said it will buy new equipment for any restaurant it remodels. The restaurant chain has also decreased its network TV advertisements in the fall. It spent $37 million on measured media in 1998, according to Competitive Media Reporting. For the first five months of 1999, the chain spent $12.8 million. It also has halved the contribution franchisees are required to make for national advertising.
