ABSTRACT
The article reports that malternatives, that were used as an alternative to beer for young adults, have become a symbol of profit margins in the convenience stores in the United States. According to the results of a report on Convenience Store News Industry, flavored malt beverages accounted for 4 percent of the overall beer category in the convenience channel and malternatives still accounted for nearly $627 million in convenience store rings in 2005. The article also offers sales data for top 10 individual brands of flavored alcoholic beverages.
