ABSTRACT
Boiler scale-forming tendency can be changed by monitoring total alkalinity of the boiler water to avoid accidents and ensure safety. In view of the present failure at home and abroad to monitor boiler water total alkalinity on line, a new method is proposed to indirectly find boiler water total alkalinity through measuring on line pH value, temperature and boiler pressure of the water. On-line control using grey PID control strategy was carried out according to the boiler water total alkalinity specification stated in GB1576-85 Water Quality Standard and the system was finally realized on the specially-designed 16-bit single-chip processor. The actual experimental results prove that this method of boiler water total alkalinity on-line monitoring and control is feasible, and the monitoring system operates reliably, being easily-handled and enjoying satisfactory control effect.
