ABSTRACT
The article encapsulates, by year, military actions that have taken place in Afghanistan between 1973 and 2006. The events recounted include the overthrow of King Zahir Shah in 1973, the 1979 invasion of the country by the Soviet Union and their departure in defeat in 1989. The Taliban took Kabul and control of the country in 1996 and subject the population to strict Islamic law. Afghanistan was attacked by Britain and the United States in 2001.
