ABSTRACT
The article reports that private investments in public equity (PIPE) market is getting bigger despite insider trading enforcement actions by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. The PIPE financings issued through June 15, 2006 amounted to $20.3 billion compared to $9.44 billion for the same period last year. The factors that led to the growth of the market include greater recognition by companies that PIPE are a rapid and confidential way to raise money and the flow of capital to hedge funds.
