The article reports on the death of June Allyson, one of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer's brightest musical comedy actresses of the 1940s and 1950s. She was known for her husky voice, pageboy haircut and girl-next-door effervescence. The 88-year-old actress died of pulmonary respiratory failure and acute bronchitis after a long illness on July 8, 2006 at her home in Ojai, California.
