ABSTRACT
The article discusses advantages and drawbacks of recording with a large-diaphragm condenser (LDC) microphone and offers tips to comprehending the mic specifications to consider when shopping for an LDC mic. An LDC mic excels where the nuance of a condenser mic is called for. However, it tends to have worse off-axis frequency responses as compared with small-diaphragm mics.
