ABSTRACT
The article presents information on a study regarding a comparative analysis between oral mycophenolate mofetil (MMF) and intravenous cyclophosphamide (IVC) for inducing remissions in active lupus nephritis. The study included 140 patients who met 4 classification criteria of the American College of Rheumatology for systemic lupus erythematosus. The results of the study show that MMF is both non-inferior and superior to IVC. Thus, it was concluded that in patients with active lupus nephritis, oral mycophenolate induced complete remission in patients than did IVC, when given in addition to corticosteroids.
