This article reports that Shell is in talks with Gazprom over the construction of a gas-to-liquids (GTL) project in Russia, as of June 2006. The unit will be based in Nadym, western Siberia, and it will be Russia's first GTL project. The Russian state-owned gas company is reported as saying that a move into GTL would make sense as the cost of pumping gas from some fields was rising as output declines.
